Photo a Day

Ahhh, one of my favorite meals for Friday night's supper. Buffalo chicken tenders with fries from Baldies. Mmm. And ginger ale (as always), and the usual yogurt and coffee for dessert.

But of course, those things aren't in the photo and that's what this post is about after all. The photo. Haha.

Throwback Thursday

Hey, maybe that will be a thing. Hmmm.

This is a photo I posted in my 2010 P-365 and it looked something like this:

Bigass Bird

Couldn't get a really good shot but was able to improve it in post processing. Love the pattern on his/her back. After taking a few shots, I heard a shriek and when I looked again, he/she was gone. Wish I caught her taking flight. Oh well.

Sunset at Buttermilk Bay

As seen from the Royal Cape Cod Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. When visiting my father there is often a nice sunset.

This time I decided to go out to the truck for my camera and take some photos of it.

Boy was it cold though. Brrr.

Taken 2/25/2012 at Cape Cod Canal
A photo from last year (yes, 2/25) at the Cape Cod Canal.

Friday night we had a rare treat. A winter thunder storm. I got some video but I was a little too late for the really vivid stuff. Having said that, here's the two best video clips I got (combined).

Pumpkin Jr.

Although she's now 21, I always have and still do, call my 2nd cousin Mary, Pumpkin.

It's a term of endearment I use for very few people, and Mary is the main Pumpkin...the Pumpkin Princess. lol.

Well, Pumpkin is now a Mommy. I was so happy to finally meet her baby tonight.

It's been so long since I've held such a tiny little baby, only a month old.

Here's a photo, taken by Mary, of me and her daughter Chloe.

Congratulations, Pumpkin!

Maybe it's just been nice to see blue sky and sunshine, but the formation  of these clouds were appealing to me and I felt they were photo worthy.

They were actually prettier live than in the photo but this is close.

Those flowers again.

Taken Feb 22, 2014
They've been out in the breezeway, where the coolness has kept them well preserved. With the whiteness of the outside window behind it thrown out of focus, I thought it would make a nice photo. This was taken tomorrow. ;)

Way back to Feb 20, 2010! I think I was still learning the ins and outs of the eos 50D.

Photo A Day

High up on one of her favorite perches, the oven hood, she watches my son and I prepare our supper.

Oddly, she hasn't had too much interest in eating people food, although there are a few items she likes. She likes popcorn. She likes cheddar rice cakes. I'm sure there's more. Oh and I caught her helping herself to some Brummel and Brown yogurt spread one day.

She does however have an interest in our food. She loves to look at it, smell it, and if offered, maybe taste it. Oh and play with it. She had a blast chasing a couple Cheerios around the other day.

Way Back When

Taken 2/18/2011 - FujiFilm A820
This one was taken February 18, 2011 deep inside Massasoit State Park, near Lake Rico. That's my old cane leaning against the fallen and burned tree.

I took this with my FujiFilm A820, which I haven't been using at all lately. I mostly only used it in my paranormal investigations for the past couple years and then I retired it from that as well. It has served me well and it still works but it has some minor issues.

I've been trying to post old ones (when I do post old ones) that correspond to the date of the posting but from previous years.

For Feb 18, I had to go through several years and cameras to find one, first that was taken on 2/18, and then to be worthy of posting. Hope it was. :)

Behind Again :(

Taken 2/17/2012
Sure enough, got caught up from last time and fell behind again immediately. Looks like one way to do a Project 52 is to actually intend it to be a Project 365.

I'm typing this Friday the 21st but for continuity of the Photo a Day, it is dated for Monday 2/17/2014.

This photo, however, was taken exactly two years ago - February 17, 2012. The rocks are on the shore in Plymouth, MA.

Tiny Feet

Little bird on the left and I don't know what on the right...mouse maybe?

Oh and the big one in the middle is mine, size 8. Haha.

Yesterday's storm layered another 10 - 12 inches of snow on top of what we already had. Yay.

Google Auto-awesome'd this photo.
Ouch. The snowstorm started and the roads got slippery quick.

I didn't see this happen so I don't know, but people seem to use this street as a highway, and the snow doesn't seem to slow them down much at all.

In the snow it's easy to get up to speed, especially on a straightaway. The trick then, is stopping...unless you use a tree.

Be My Precious!

Photo a Day

All caught up!

And Happy Valentine's day. I really don't get into this "holiday" but I got a nice photo of the day based on it.

And of course I wish people love and happiness, always - not just today.

As for myself I'm still just wishing even after many years, so the "holiday" is more depressing than anything else.

Ha ha, I hope this blog post has been uplifting despite my whining!

Hope y'all had a great day!

More Wabbit Twacks.

Taken 2/12/2014
I assume they're wabbit anyway. I think they're partially melted out so they're bigger than they would be originally.

The yard is covered with these tracks and as you saw in an earlier post, we have seen a rabbit(s).

Garden Globe

Taken 2/12/2014
I liked how most of the back yard and the entire back of the house is reflected in the globe.

I didn't try looking closely at the patio area to see how well I can be seen. If I can be seen at all, one would have to look very closely and really zoom way in. If successful, then my face would be hidden by the camera. lol. Major trambling here.
Taken 2/12/2014

Couldn't decide which version I liked better so I'm posting both.

Chicken Gnocchi

Taken 2/12/2014
My son made this from an Olive Garden inspired recipe.

He sent me home with some for my mother and me. We were impressed.

Nice job, Ryan.

Birds at the feeder.

I didn't even see the one in flight until after I took the photo. Too bad that bird is out of focus. Oh well, what can ya do?

This was taken Tuesday, the 11th. The first in the make-up images I said I'd take instead of using older ones.

Photo a Day.

Well, has it really been 5 days since I've taken a picture? Wow! I know it's been 4 since I posted anything and that was a year-old photo. I've been bringing the powershot with me everywhere I go but I haven;t seen anything photo worthy that I had time to stop for. Good thing too, because I just found the memory card still plugged into the laptop (it has a built in SD card reader - the other camera uses a CF card, in case you were wondering about my broken card reader).

Well, this time I'll do something different. Instead of posting an older photo to make up for missing days, I'll plan to take a new photo for each missed day. Not sure when I'll do this so stay tuned.

BTW when I talk about missing days and then I make it up, the made up days appear in order before this post so it might seem confusing. lol
Note: I adjusted the date so this will post before the make-up photos. Make up photos will be dated 2/08 thru 2/13.

Have a good day!

Creepy Dead Tree

Dead trees revisited - they used to be one of my favorite subjects.

This one was taken Feb. 7, 2010 (exactly 4 years ago) at Ellisville State Park in Plymouth.

Of course I did some tweaking in Lightroom. I think it looks a little like a creepy hand.

Tonight Show

Falling behind in my P365 posts, but not to worry. I have been taking photos. Just finished editing several and will be posting them very soon.

Just watched the final Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I usually watch David Letterman, then Craig Ferguson, although lately I've just been going to bed. It isn't that I don't like Jay. He is very funny. I've just always liked Dave better. Tonight, another era ended. Even though I didn't watch him much, it was still sad to see this chapter close.

Goodnight Jay Leno.

Railroad Bridge

At the Cape Cod Canal in Buzzards Bay.

It was sooooo much colder by the canal than it was anywhere else I was at today, and I was short on time or I would've spent more time on this.

High priority on my wish list is a wide angle lens, which would have been helpful here. With the lens I used I would need to walk quite a distance to fit the whole bridge in the shot but I didn't have the time to do that and I was very very cold.

However I do like the crop I did here, which is concentrated where the sunset is behind it, just the mainland end of the bridge.

Agent Starling

Couldn't decide which of these to post so I combined them into one. Of course I could've just posted both but oh pic a day. lol.

Against the snow, these guys just looked black and I couldn't figure out what they were until I took a photo and looked at it.

I don't recall ever seeing them in the winter, at least in the snow. We've been seeing robins all winter too, in Wareham. If robins fly south for the winter as they're famous for, these ones must be from up north. They're supposed to be a sign of spring...well, spring is coming. So is Christmas. Haha.

But I don't know what starlings typically do.

Wascally Wodent (Auto-Awesomed by Google)

Confirmation that the tracks we've been seeing all over the yard in the snow, are indeed from a wascally wabbit. Actually we've had no doubt but now we've seen it. Well we've seen it before too, but not since winter got here. Really we've seen him/her/them at least once before since winter got here, but not in the snow. Whew I think I got that straight now.

And as mentioned in the title, Google automatically added the falling snowflakes.
